Custom GPT rescue
57 days left until 11 December 2026
Save your Custom GPT before 11 December 2026.
ChatGPT retires Custom GPTs on 11 December 2026 (later for Enterprise). Copy your GPT's instructions, starters and knowledge files out now, import them into LoadMyAI in a few minutes, and keep using it in Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or any MCP app.

Step by step
How to get your GPT out of ChatGPT
Step 1: Open your GPT's editor
Go to chatgpt.com, open GPTs in the sidebar, then My GPTs. Choose your GPT, click Edit and switch to the Configure tab. Everything you need is on that tab.
Step 2: Copy the text fields
Copy the Name, Description, Instructions and each Conversation starter. The copy template on this page has a heading for each one, and LoadMyAI reads those headings when you paste it in. Plain text works too: anything without headings is kept as the instructions.
Step 3: Note the settings
Write down which Capabilities are switched on (Web search, Canvas, Image generation, Code Interpreter & Data Analysis) and the name of each Action. Copy action names only. Never copy API keys or authentication settings; the importer removes anything that looks like a key anyway.
Step 4: Gather the knowledge files
The Knowledge section lists every file you uploaded. ChatGPT has no export button for a GPT, so find your original copies of those files now. If you no longer have one and Code Interpreter is on, asking the GPT for the file in a chat sometimes works. Check what you get back.
Step 5: Import it into LoadMyAI
Sign in and choose Import. Pick ChatGPT Custom GPT, paste what you copied and press Parse, then upload the files. Choose a workspace, check the review and save. You see exactly what came across before anything is saved.
Step 6: Use it from your AI app
Add the connector URL to Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor, sign in and approve. Or copy the assistant's full prompt into any chat, or download a ZIP of everything.
Copy template
# <Name> ## Description <Description> ## Instructions <Everything in the Instructions box> ## Conversation starters - <Starter 1> - <Starter 2> ## Capabilities Delete the lines that are switched off in the editor: - Web search - Canvas - Image generation - Code Interpreter & Data Analysis - Action: <Name of each action, never its keys> ## Knowledge files - <File name 1> - <File name 2>
ChatGPT's data export won't save your GPT. Settings, then Data controls, then Export data sends you your chat history. It doesn't include your GPTs' instructions or knowledge files.
What carries over
What comes with you into LoadMyAI, and what doesn't
Comes with you
- Name and description
- Instructions, with version history from here on
- Conversation starters, also saved as reusable task prompts
- Knowledge files: PDF, Word, Markdown, text, CSV and JSON become searchable documents; images are stored as files
- Capability settings, recorded with the assistant
- The names of your actions, listed in a migration report
Stays behind
- Custom actions: nothing here calls outside APIs for you, so rebuild them as tools in your AI app
- Chat history with the GPT
- The GPT's chosen model: you use whichever model your AI app offers
- Its GPT Store listing, and the people who used it (invite them again by email)
Your options

| What | Migrate to Plugin | LoadMyAI |
|---|---|---|
| Where you can use it | Inside ChatGPT | Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and other MCP apps, or any AI by pasting the prompt |
| Instructions | Become a plugin skill | Kept as instructions, with version history |
| Knowledge files | Become reference files | Kept as documents your AI can search, with the original files |
| Conversation starters | Only partly carried over | Imported with the assistant |
| Custom actions | Not carried over | Not run here either. Their names are listed in your migration report |
| The GPT's chosen model | Not carried over | Use any model your AI app offers |
| Sharing and access | Not carried over | Invite teammates and clients by email, and remove them anytime |
When do Custom GPTs stop working?
On 11 December 2026. ChatGPT retires Custom GPTs on the Free, Go, Plus, Pro and Business plans: they stop running and leave the GPT directory. Enterprise workspaces have a later date from OpenAI, so check with your admin.
Can I export my Custom GPT from ChatGPT?
Not as a file. There's no export button for a GPT, and ChatGPT's data export (Settings, then Data controls) contains your chat history, not your GPTs' instructions or files. Copy the fields from the Configure tab and keep your original knowledge files, as the steps on this page show.
What's the difference from OpenAI's Migrate to Plugin?
Migrate to Plugin turns your GPT into a ChatGPT plugin, so it only works inside ChatGPT, and custom actions, the chosen model, conversation starters and other people's access don't carry over. LoadMyAI keeps the instructions, starters and files in a workspace you control and lets you use them in Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or any MCP app.
Should I migrate to a plugin as well?
You can do both. If you want to keep using the GPT inside ChatGPT, migrating is quick. Copy everything out first, though: once a GPT is migrated, the original becomes read-only.
Do I need a ChatGPT subscription to keep using my GPT?
No. LoadMyAI works with the AI app you choose. Claude, including Claude Free with one custom connector, can connect to it directly. In ChatGPT you can add it as a custom MCP server on plans that allow one, or paste the assistant's full prompt into a chat on any plan.
What if I no longer have my knowledge files?
Import the instructions and starters anyway; they are most of what makes a GPT work. Then upload whatever files you can find or recreate. If the GPT has Code Interpreter switched on, asking it for a file in a chat sometimes returns it, but check the result before relying on it.
Can I save a GPT that someone else built?
Only import configuration you own or are allowed to use. If you built it but can't open the editor any more, you can ask the GPT to describe its own instructions; the import wizard has a prompt for this. The answer is often incomplete, so review it before saving.
Do you need my ChatGPT password?
No. You copy the text and upload your files yourself. LoadMyAI never asks for your OpenAI login and never fetches anything from ChatGPT.
Is LoadMyAI affiliated with OpenAI?
No. LoadMyAI is independent and isn't affiliated with or endorsed by OpenAI or Anthropic.
Rescue your GPT before 11 December 2026.
Copy it out, paste it in, upload the files, check the review, save. Then connect the AI you use and start a chat.
Sign-up is invite-only during the beta.
